Bramble and a second man were arrested at the Vermont Hotel early on Wednesday and have been questioned by detectives all morning.
The 29-year-old centre-back was arrested on suspicion of rape after a call was made to the police by a woman in her 20s.
Sunderland have so far not commented on the incident.
Oh dear. Innocent until proven guilty and all that, but it doesn’t look good for everyone’s favourite shit defender.
