Serie A broke up for the festive period with Inter Milan holding a comfortable seven-point lead over Roma at the top of the table. Juventus are a further point behind Roma and six points ahead of fourth-placed Udinese, meaning this year’s scudetto is at best a three-horse race.
Italy’s top teams are currently indulging in a series of meaningless, but money-spinning friendlies, in destinations such as Dubai and Malta (including Inter’s match against Ajax, above).


Andrea Pirlo scored an excellent free-kick in the Milan derby jest before Christmas. It wasn’t enough though as Inter won the match 2-1.
