One to watch: Nicky Maynard, Crewe Alexandra
The next big thing off Crewe Alexandra‘s seemingly endless production line is likely to be young striker Nicky Maynard. Maynard scored the winner in the League One side’s Carling Cup victory over Wigan last night (despite the fact that Dario Gradi had pledged to rest his top scorer).
The speedy striker has a keen eye for goal. The goal against Wigan was his eighth of the season. He is tipped to follow Dean Ashton from Gresty Road to the Premier League. His big transfer might not come for a couple of seasons though. Maynard is only 19-years-old and Gradi tends to make sure his players are the finished article before moving them on. Here are some of the highlights of Maynard’s fledgling career as a taster.
