Amidst the plethora of meaningless friendlies held this week – Macedonia vs Serbia, anyone? – there were some actual World Cup qualifiers, in the Asian section. Australia swept past Qatar, thanks to goals by Josh Kennedy, Tim Cahill and Mark Bresciano. Watch the goals below:

There were also comfortable wins for Japan, who thumped Thailand 4-1, and South Korea, 4-0 victors against the mighty Turkmenistan. Elsewhere in Asia, North Korea returned from Jordan with a 1-0 win, and Saudi Arabia beat Singapore 2-0 at home. In the other game in Australia’s group, Iraq drew 1-1 with China – those two will provide a much sterner test for the Aussies.
