Walter Smith’s men can still win quadruple

Congrats to Rangers, who reached the Uefa Cup final with a penalty shootout win against Fiorentina in Italy last night. Walter Smith’s team might have buckled and were lucky not to concede on several occasions, but you have to admire their resilience. However, Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli said Rangers did not deserve to reach the final:
“A team that has renounced to play has won, football is like this. Football sometimes awards teams that don’t deserve it.”
Harsh words, but I see what he means – Rangers do at times play anti-football.
The Scottish club now face Zenit St Petersburg, surprise conquerors of pre-tournament favourites Bayern Munich (watch highlights of that after the click…), in Manchester on 14 May.

Zenit 4-0 Bayern Munich

A shock thrashing for the Germans, who had a rare off-day.
