Against the Almeria's and Getafe's of the world, yes, he was starter worthy. Conversely, have you seen his performances against clubs with talent? Such as, say, Roma or Liverpool in the Champions league? He is not decisive in possession, does not tackle well, and is constantly bullied in midfield by better talent.
