At last someone has shed some light on the Jovanovic deal

It was reported in the transfer round up earlier that the agent of Milan Jovanovic had confirmed the Standard Liege striker would be joining Liverpool on a free in the summer. Now, personally, I wouldn’t trust a footballer’s agent as far as I could throw him, but it now seems the player himself has confirmed that the deal has indeed gone through.

Speaking to Belgian media outlet Sporza, Jovanovic is quoted as saying;

“We have reached an agreement [with Liverpool] for three years, with the option to extend with another season. I have yet to undergo a medical exam, but that shouldn’t be a problem. I don’t have any physical problems and I feel perfectly fit.”

So, it seems that it is now a done deal and Liverpool have got their man, albeit for next season, after beating off competition from European heavyweights AC Milan and Valencia in the race for the 28 year old Serbian forward.

A good signing (remember, there’s no fee) ‘Pool fans? Or does Jovanovic run the risk of becoming the new Voronin?

…Sorry, that was a horrible thing to say.
