I don’t even think Keane’s was a yellow. He went for the ball, took the ball, and his second leg followed because it was connected to his body – if it hadn’t followed he’d either have broken it or be a contortionist. I think it was a fair tackle, although as the player went down justaifably I would probably have given a free kick.
I didn’t see Diouf’s either so can’t comment, but I’ve heard that it was pretty nasty. Oh, it looks like I can comment after all!

The referee that sent Keane out might be the first to implement the recommendations given at the beginning of the season.
Whether Keane got the ball or not should not be relevant in this case, it seems that he was trying to play the ball and one of his boots even touches it slightlly, but he had no concern to wether he also “played” the opponent, he goes in cleats first in the air and runs through the opposing player.
That should be a straight red.
Let’s take these wild challenges out of the game.

Can’t the Prem just get rid of Diouf full stop? He’s a danger to people whenever he plays – every time I watch him he sticks his studs into someone!
Didn’t think Keane’s was a red card, deserved a booking and nothing more. And I’m a Gooner…

Well, if he got the ball, then you’re absolutely right. To me, it looked like he didn’t, but I confess to only watching it live and the one or two replays they showed, so I could have missed it. It was definitely a 50-50 call whether to send him off or not, and I think the ref got it right (although it feels weird saying that)

Keane took a bit of the ball – it was his momentum that carried him through the back of Muamba. Didn’t look pretty, I agree, but not deserving of a red, imo.

Keane went into the tackle with two feet, and “scissored” his legs around Muamba. That’s a clear red-card, regardless of whether Muamba was injured or not. It’s an exceptionally dangerous tackle, and its immaterial whether it was intentional or just a poorly orchestrated tackle.
I can’t comment on Diouf’s tackle, because I didn’t see it, but just because it was “worse” doesn’t mean Keane didn’t deserve the red.
As far as I’m concerned, there are far too many dangerous tackles (two footed and from behind) that go unpunished, so I truly hope that Spurs appeal against the red fails.
