Southampton 2-0 Newcastle – Saints Climb Out Of Drop-Zone As Magpies’ Slump Continues (Photos & Highlights)

By Alan Duffy

Southampton 2-0 Newcastle United – Premier League – 25th November 2012

Southampton climbed out of the drop-zone courtesy of a deserved victory against Newcastle.

Uruguayan schemer Gaston Ramiriez was the star of the show for the Saints, netting one and providing the assist for the other as the home side flourished against a disappointing Newcastle side. Indeed, the Magpies failed to create many chances and have now lost three on the trot.

While the Saints move up to 17th, Newcastle find themselves just three points ahead of the Solent side, in 14th place.

Interestingly, Newcastle’s slump has occurred since Alan Pardew signed that big eight-year contract. Make of that what you will!
