Swansea City 2-2 Newcastle United – Premier League – 5th October 2014
Under-fire Newcastle boss Alan Pardew saw his side battle to a precious point at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
Papiss Cissé was the star of the game for the Magpies, scoring twice after the Swans had twice gone in front. Wilfried Bony finally put an end to his goal-drought on 17 minutes and for long periods of the first half the Swans were in control. However, just befoe the break, Senegalese hitman Cissé flicked in a Gabriel Obertan centre to level the scores.
The pattern was the same after the break, with Cissé again converting a rare chance for the Magpies late on after Wayne Routledge had put the Swans ahead on 50 minutes.
Swansea boss Garry Monk’s will no doubt be frustrated not to have taken all three points from a game the Swans dominated, only to lose two goals from two rare chances for the visitors. Pardew, on other hand, will be hoping this point can kickstart his side’s hellish season.
