Good news everybody! As you can hopefully see, Jonas Gutierrez made a winning return to the Newcastle United fold this afternoon, captaining the side and managing an impressive 87-minute stint in the reserves’ 4-1 victory over West Ham’s second string at Whitley Park.
After being diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2013, Gutierrez had surgery to remove his left testicle before undergoing chemotherapy in his native Argentina.
He then went on on to run the Buenos Aires Marathon for charity back in October part-way through his treatment, just because he’s a thoroughly awesome human being.
Great to see him back and fighting fit!
