Newcastle Boss John Carver Publicly Accuses Mike Williamson Of Getting Himself Sent-Off On Purpose

Steve Stone, always willing to look on the bright side!

With Newcastle slumping to an eighth straight league defeat after losing 3-0 against Leicester City this afternoon, a positively incandescent John Carver made some fairly hefty accusations after the pallid performance.

Tearing into his tepid team amid a poisonous post-match atmosphere, the under-pressure Toon boss singled out Mike Williamson and even went as far as to accuse his centre-half of getting deliberately sent-off against The Foxes in a bid to shirk out of the next two games.

This from the man who interviewed the incandescent Carver in the tunnel at the King Power…

Carver told the BBC cameras:

“I thought he’d done that on purpose – it looks like he did,”

“The ball was off the pitch – he had no need to make the challenge.”

“He will miss two games. Is it an easy way out?”

Williamson was shown a second yellow for almost barging Jamie Vardy into a pitchside camera.

Indeed, Carver hadn’t calmed down by the time of his post-match presser either, reiterating his allegation:

“I thought he (Williamson) meant it. When the ball went on to that left-hand side my first reaction was don’t do it. He did it.

“Vardy was off the pitch, Willo was off the pitch, the ball was off the pitch. There was no need to do it and I’m not accepting that.

“I told him that to his face. I don’t want to go into his reaction.”

John Carver undermining his players and breaking all kinds of unwritten codes in one fell swoop there.

It seems as though Williamson wasn’t the only Newcastle player to bear the brunt of his righteous indignation either…

With Newcastle now just two points from the dotted line of doom with three games left, looking utterly hopeless and with a manager who looks increasingly out of his depth with every passing minute, you get the ominous feeling that something’s gotta give – one way or t’other.
