Despite the size of the club and its fan-base, Newcastle haven’t had a sniff of success in quite some time. Not surprisingly, fans of the Magpies are desperate for a trophy, with one particularly optimistic member of the Toon Army making a bit of a mess of a celebratory tattoo after the club’s battering of Preston in the EFL Cup.

Following the 6-0 mauling of Preston in the last 16 of the EFL Cup, a certain Connor Stobbs got a bit carried away and despite to splash out on a tattoo celebrating the Magpies’ apparently inevitable glory in the competition.

Except the poor sod got the year wrong, with ‘2016’ the year Manchester City won the competition, rather than ‘2017’ when the final will be played.

After a rather prophetic “I’m about to do something stupid” Tweet, Stobbs followed it up with the finished botched tattoo…

What an ass!

At least he can just get “/17” added on to the end of it. If Newcastle do actually win the competition, that is!
