Mesut Ozil was the match-winner at the Emirates on Saturday, with the German firing Arsenal to a 1-0 over Newcastle courtesy of a wonderful striker.
With Aaron Ramsey out injured, Jack Wilshere made a second consecutive Premier League start in midfield, while youngester Ainsley Maitland-Niles lined out at left-back.
However, it was Ozil who would provide the one moment of real quality in what was a rather disappointing game.
The only goal of the game came on 23 minutes, with Ozil executing a beautiful first-time volley after Newcastle failed to adequately clear their lines…
Technique and balance in one perfect strike.
Arsenal dominated the game without adding to their lead, although late on, Newcastle did threaten late on.
The victory was Arsenal’s tenth in a row over the Magpies and sees them go back into the top four.
As for Rafa Benitez and co, they slip into the drop-zone with their eighth defeat in their last nine league games.
