Big Sam has accused Italy goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, of common assault for a challenge that almost knocked out rookie, Andy Carroll, during yesterday’s ‘friendly’ against Juventus.
Newcastle actually won the game 2-0 but the scoreline wasn’t enough to calm down Allardyce who stormed down from his usual position in the stands to give the referee an absolute earful. “It was a bit like that Schumacher challenge, it was more like common assault than anything else,” he said.
We haven’t seen any footage of it and would be interested to hear from anyone who has but here’s a reminder of that Schumacher challenge – it doesn’t involve any Formula One cars but the effect is similar
