Fair play to Mike Ashley for showing his rotund face (and equally rotund body) at St James’ on Saturday – the lad has a lot of nerve. He must have known he’d get plenty of stick from angry NUFC fans…

After a triffic result against in-form Liverpool (fair play also to Alan Pardew, who handled the afternoon very well, I thought), I wonder if the discontent at Ashley’s behaviour had melted away by full-time? Would be interested to hear the thoughts of Newcastle fans on this…

When I visited Newcastle from the US for a preseason game in the summer of 2008, I met Ashley in the Strawberry pub. He was talking and joking with fans, taking pictures, and just being really affable. That initial impression has stuck with me, so I like him and can appreciate what he is doing, though I don’t approve of how he goes about it. (Perhaps Pardew was installed because he has a bit more brand recognition, which will help in the sale of club?)
Since I might lose my adopted Geordie status with the above comments, I’d like to cover my bases with some hackneyed words and phrases: disgrace, shameful, rubbish, never shop at his stores, stop buying tickets.

The distaste for Ashley is still there. It has been there for 2 years. We don’t want Ashley. If we had won this game 18-0 that would not change. He cares not about the City, only about his assets – he doesn’t understand stability or anything other than his own sense of self-worth.

Ollie i know you are trying to get as many hits and comments for your site as possible, but seriously never mind being a football reporter – you are a football fan. Do you honestly think that newcastle fans are suddenly happy with Mike Ashley because the team beat Liverpool? Never mind the fact it was the same team that Hughton picked, and the formation we played under Hughton, the fact that the only way the game differed from under Hughton’s stewardship was that he brought alan smith on at the end.
Seriously Ollie use some common sense, I know Newcastle fans are constantly portrayed as thick in the media and some of us don’t help ourselves, but one win after a days training under Pardew does not make it a good decision.

I am a Newcastle fan and our win against Liverpool was nothing to do with Alan Pardew. He arrived mid-week and turned down the opportunity to train with the players so he could talk to the media, he did not have to do that. He could have spent the week with the players and answered the media later, they still would have wanted to talk to him, regardless of what day it was.
Secondly… after the game Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton handled the press perfectly, praising Chris Hughton and disapproving Mile Ashley’s decision and Alan Pardew came out and said he didn’t like some things. Kevin and Joey had not long been talking about team morale and Pardew came put and criticised the team for what was a great performance and a vital 3 points. He isn’t going to get any fans if he slates the team for a win and a good game.
Kick the fat fucker out, take his new silver-haired companion and bring back Freddy Shepherd and King Kev!!!

  5. […] If only Cleveland’s LeBron haters would have taken a lesson from Newcastle fans who turned in these fan-fucking-tastic hate filled banners towards Mike Ashley (whoever the hell that is) [Who Ate All The Pies] […]

  6. Montesquieu says:

Even if Ashley brought in Mourinho, Newcastle would still be a turd of a club.
