Poor Steven Taylor, stuck in the Championship while all the cool kids have fun in the Premier League. He has even started sitting on walls, looking moodily into the distance. It’s a worrying sign.
Several Prem clubs are reportedly interested in rescuing the stout Englishman from Newcastle United, namely Aston Villa, Fulham and Everton. Villa really need a decent central defender to replace the retired Martin Laursen, while Fulham and Everton could still lose Brede Hangeland and Joelon Lescott before the transfer window shuts.

Newcastle want to keep Taylor, as he is central to their bid to “bounce back” into the top flight. But a bid of around £10m might be enough to convince them to do business. Ideally, the Magpies will keep Taylor and cash in on the useless Fabricio Coloccini. Espanyol have admitted that the big-nosed Argentine is on their shopping list; I’m sure Newcastle would be happy to see the back of him.

If you bothered to read between the lines, you might have noticed that this post actually sends up the Premier League and its self-congratulatory manner. I think Taylor is a decent player and should stay put.

Fuck! Ollie, maybe u should make ppl create memberships to quote, as knee-jerk reactions only seem to apply here!! Bitter about going down and losing one of your own lads??

Good piece Ollie. Unfortunately it has reached the stage when Taylor is seen as a beacon of hope for our club. Admittedly he’s a great Championship player….but 8-10 million would be an unbelieveable bit of business. Don’t think he’d get so much support if he wasn’t a local lad. However being left with Coloccini would be an absolute disaster. I’d argue he’s the worst defender we’ve had in the Premier League years. Slow, ponderous, indecisive, weak, unresponsive and utterly clueless in English football. Ashley doesn’t seem to realise that stripping all our assets can only work if we bring in players to bolster what was already a very thin squad. This is genuinely frightning times for Newcastle fans.

  13. David Allison says:

Ditto what kazimkazim said. If we decide to sell, it will be Ashley & Llambias’ decision, not Steve’s. And it may look bad that we will have lost (before Taylor) 10 players with only one signing, but there are a number of youngsters who can step up in this division (Lua Lua, Ranger, Vuckic, Kadar, Tozer, Krul, etc). I’m not saying that this is the way to go, but there is some hope as regards the depth of the current squad.

listen up you miserable geordie twat, the man runs a blog. im sorry if it hurts your delicate little feelings that your gobshite team possesses an actual top flight talent (who’s overrated in my opinion) that is attracting interest from teams in the premier league. if i was taylor and had the chance to play in the premier league and in the case of some of the teams interested europe too instead of playing sodaship football i’d be out of toon in a new yorkl minute. jeez i thought you northern cunts were supposed to be tough and shit, apparently youre just a sensitive little flower with delicate sensibilities. grow the fuck up and grow a sense of humor (something you should already have considering you watch newcastle games week in week out). i mean hmmm play for fulham in london as opposed to the dreck that is northern newcastle and play some europa league games too meaning only more exposure for myself or stay in newcastle and play colaship ball with my laughingstock team and continue to be the butt of every joke by association. real tough decision if you ask me (sarcasm)

You tell ’em Ol! Haha, I love this site, so many hair-trigger morons to annoy!
On a sidenote, I would bite Espanyols hand off if they offered me so much as a cheeky smile for Coloccini.

  16. Fitzy says:

I fucking hate all you Geordie cunts, the funny thing is you all still think you’re going to get Champions League football
