Newcastle have been quick to condemn the ‘shameful’ behaviour of the Toon supporters who invaded the pitch and proceeded to kick several shades out of each other during last night’s pre-season ‘friendly’ at Darlington.

You heard right. A fight broke out at a Newcastle game and Joey Barton wasn’t involved. The boy really has turned over a new leaf.

Anyway, the club have vowed to take the ‘strongest possible action’ against the fans responsible after the match was delayed for 10 minutes when Sammy Ameobi’s goal sparked an on-pitch dust-up…

    Notice how many fans, that were fighting, were wearing Toon Strips? None, the real fans were still up in the stands booing the thugs who only wanted a scrap. Granted, the pitch invasion was very stupid and a joke that got out of hand. Something that you missed out, was Derek Llambias (chairman) leaving at half time, because he was verbally abused by NUFC fans. My problem with this is, what do you expect? You flog £116,150,000 worth of players yet only reinvest £63,100,000 over your 4 year rule. So maybe, if he doesn’t want to get abuse from fans he should not; milk the club of all our assets, burn all our bridges with former players, have little to no contact with the fans, never explaining your, at times, ludicrous decistions and yes then maybe you won’t get heckled by fans. Rant Over

    I can do without the fighting, but singing about getting “on the pitch if Sammy scores”, and then going through with it…pretty funny.

    Earlier this week, Shevchenko was commended on this website by the author and various contributors for intervening to defend a pitch invader from arrest. Today, pitch invaders are condemned and it is proposed that they should be put in stocks. Spot the lack of joined up thinking? Either pitch invaders are ignorant scum who should be punished or they are just “true fans” deserving protection from over zealous policing – not both.

    Chavs.

  5. Chris says:

    What kind of twats lead their small children onto the pitch when there’s violence going on? Bizarre.

    Northern monkeys.

    @Petty Pete

    It was the fighting and the drunken loutish behaviour that was the problem, you spanner. While fans coming onto the pitch and celebrating a goal – pre-season – is a bit of fun, the dick-heads clubbing eachother is clearly quite distinct.

    Your comment is mental, fair play.

  9. Montesquieu says:

    @Petty Pete.

    The pitch invader during the Dinamo game still ‘acted with class’, as in, he didn’t try to start a fight unlike these fools. Shevchenko simply implored the stewards to not handle him so roughly and that after giving him his shirt he would likely leave.

    These idiots did no such thing. Besides, how much of a moronic yob do you have to be to fight during a friendly. They do not account for anything. It’s a friendly exhibition match. People take themselves too seriously.

    Chavs

    @ Petty Pete

    Get off your high horse, you self righteous prick

  13. Montesquieu says:

    “Notice how many fans, that were fighting, were wearing Toon Strips”

    They’re called ‘Casuals’, they tend to dress in expensive labels, avoiding the wearing of team colours or kits for the sake of being harder to spot in a crowd by stewards or police.

  14. Colin says:

    It is for this reason that the word ‘Chav’ is often still appropriate, albeit over-used.

  15. Petty Pete says:

    @AN. Impressive argument. You don’t at all sound anything like the moronic scum invading the pitch. You are all brains.
