FA Slap Gervinho With Three-Match Ban For Violently Ruffling Joey Barton’s Hipster Quiff

Aside from the fact that he should have been red-carded for a) the preceding dive, and b) the hair, the FA have upheld their charge of ‘violent behaviour’ against Arsenal forward Gervinho for slapping Joey Barton after the Newcastle gobshite hoisted the Ivorian to his feet by his shirt collar at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Yesterday, Arsenal lodged a claim that the standard three-game ban was ‘clearly excessive’ but an FA regulatory commission heard the case earlier today and ruled that the punishment was right and just – releasing the following statement this evening:

“Arsenal’s Gervinho has had his three-match suspension for violent conduct confirmed today, The player was sent off during Arsenal’s fixture against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday.

“Arsenal subsequently lodged a claim that the standard punishment of three matches was clearly excessive. A commission heard the claim today and dismissed it, meaning the player must serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect.”

Therefore, the mightiest forehead (fivehead?) in the Premier League will now miss games against Liverpool, Manchester United and Swansea.

To be honest, I’ve gone past the point of caring about the ins-and-outs of this debacle. Gervinho, Barton and Steven Taylor all acted like little gits at various points and, as it turns out, two of three have been incredibly lucky in escaping without smacked arses.

Any thoughts?

I wonder how many times will Barton get away with this type of actions. The FA must be blind to allow him to play on.

I think I’m going to get me a Barton cut today at the barber. I dig it.

  3. CF4 says:

Barton going unpunished for grabbing Gervinho by the throat from the floor, the FA is a joke!

Why not make it 4 matches, one more for allegedly diving then?
Thus ban Barton for being a hypocritical b*tch!

    Joey Barton is a Legend!

Gervinho dived in front of the assistant referee in the first half and got a free kick from it , nobody seems to be mentioning that .Also I like the way people are say Barton grabbed him by the throat/neck , er no he grabbed his shirt ( dont know how you lift someone off the floor by the throat/neck should think that is nigh on impossible due to the laws of biology and physics ). Gervinho should stop the diving then no one would “help” him to his feet .
PS trust Venger to buy a guy who cant hit the target properly from close range in the box :~

Barton ought to have been sent off for his part in the incident. The way he lashed out at Gervinho and picked him off the ground was atrocious. If Gervinho dived then it was the referees job to yellow card him for simulation, Barton had absolutely no business getting involved. And then the alleged tough guy goes down with a poke. Blah. What a disgusting player (Barton).

Gobshite is a strong word for bollocks dive off the Gooner first. I reckon Barton did his part to get the pathetic sod off his arse and the bloke slapped him. Barton was smart enough to go down, or else he’d prob grabbed a 3 match ban as well if he was left standing. I reckon he did the right thing, Grabbed the sod back up on his feet and gone to ground to avoid a card. Smart lad. Great midfielder.

    A couple of things ,

Firstly , it seems only Arsenal fans are complaining Barton didnt get sent off , the neutral , like myself , sees that Gervinho raised his hand in an opponents face and got sent-off continuing Arsenals very poor disciplinary record . Barton got booked on advice from the Assistant referee who saw the incident .

    Secondly @6 makoto hasebe,
There is nothing as bad as racism but faux-racism is close . It detracts from the effects of real racism and fuels opinions of “the card being played” . Gervinhos ban is for violent conduct as within the laws of the game no other reason . He struck an opponent in the face (lightly but still) this is the reason not the colour of his skin . I note you dont mention ALex Songs stamp on Barton . Is this because it does not fit with your point ?
Also I would like to help you with a few things . At the start of a sentence is a capital letter and for proper nouns ( Barton , English , Thats , Look , Henderson ..). Its nowadays not “nowdays” . Finally its pounds not pound in the plural (“20 million pound”). Not sure over your phrase “the english player is SHIT” are you referring to a singular player or did you mean ” the English players are shit”?
Hope that was some help to you .
