Remember when we told you about the monumental scoring feats of Kongo United (turns out it’s Kongo with a ‘K’) striker Yanick Djouzi Manzizila who shattered a 60-year-old Swedish goal-scoring record at the weekend by netting 21 times in one game?

Well, the poor sod’s only gone and had his 21 record-breaking goals chalked off. Allow us to explain…

According to CBC Sports, the 30-0 drubbing that Manzizila and his Kongo United teammates doled out was so severe that it caused their shell-shocked opponents, Balrog Botkyrka Södertälje IK, to drop out of the league entirely immediately after the game.

Of course, the league officials then had no choice but to wipe all of Balrog Botkyrka’s results, meaning that the 30-0 victory (including Manzizila’s individual 21-goal haul) that broke the camel’s back has now been erased from the record books entirely.

The good news is that it’s been confirmed Manzizila’s scoring record will be allowed to stand, but those 21 goals will not be included in his individual tally for the season – which comes as a big blow for the striker, whose aim was to reach the 100-goal mark this campaign.

“There’s not much that can be done about it,” Manzizila said on receiving the bad news.

“I’ll have to be happy with the fact that I broke [the record] and continue to focus on scoring a hundred goals instead.”

That’s it lad. Chin up.
