Clocking in at the ripe old age of 102, we think it’s fair to say that Otto Fischer is very probably Spartak Moscow’s oldest living fan (if not, then he’s definitely in the Top 5).

Anywho, when the Spartak players learned that poor Otto had had his life-savings pinched by a conman posing as a social worker, they immediately had a whip-round to help replenish the old chap’s coffers.

Eventually, the Spartak first-team squad managed to cobble together 500,000 rubles (roughly £5,800), which striker Vyacheslav Krotov duly presented to Otto on television.

Otto was then also invited along as Spartak’s guest of honour for the Moscow derby against beloved neighbours Dinamo, with a VIP tour of the stadium and facilities also thrown in.

Our Russian’s not as polished as it might be, but we think Otto was absolutely made up with the generosity on display…

Top stuff. Don’t it just warm your cockles?

And why did it have to be a public gesture? More cheap publicity. It’s trending quite high amongst football clubs and players.
