FIFA president Sepp Blatter and his UEFA counterpart Michel Platini have both been suspended from all football-related activities for the next eight years as a result of an investigation into corruption within both organisations.
Both men were found guilty of ethics breaches pertaining to a £1.3million “disloyal payment” made by Blatter to Platini in 2011.
The pair denied any wrongdoing, but still the bans come into force immediately.
Another good day for the phrase ‘football-related activities’. No Subbuteo for Blatter and Platini this Christmas.
