Non-league side Colne FC suffered a strange old break-in over the weekend when burglars forced their way into the club house, rustled themselves up a burger or two and then left a thank-you note scrawled on the kitchen wall.

As BBC Lancashire report, the thieves broke into Colne’s XLCR Stadium between 7pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday and made away with 12 bottles of spirits.

However, that wasn’t before they helped themselves to a bite to eat at Colne’s expense…

Speaking to the BBC, Colne club treasurer Janette Harries said:

It’s cheeky; they are rubbing our noses in it. Whether they are dumb enough to write their real name, you can’t tell.

They got the burgers out of the freezer and put them on the griddle and defrosted teacakes; they even used oil on the griddle. So they have been quite considerate. But he didn’t wash up afterwards.

The unabashed scoundrel!

Colne, who play in the Northwest Counties Premier, were forced to start an online fundraising campaign to raise the £1,000 needed to repair the damage the burglars caused – the third break-in that the club have suffered in just over a year.

Thankfully, we’re glad to report that they’ve already surpassed their designated total.

Perhaps put a bit of cash towards beefing (pun only slightly intended) up your security measures, guys?
