SPL Photos: Celtic 1-1 Falkirk – Hoops lose more ground on Rangers

So Celtic couldn’t beat the SPL’s bottom-placed team, and not for the first time this season. The Hoops may still be second in the table, but these are grim times at Parkhead, with fans voicing their disapproval of, er, everyone from majority shareholder Dermot Desmond to gaffer Tony Mowbray. With former skipper Gary Caldwell being sold to Wigan this month, apparently against Mowbray’s wishes, you have to wonder who is running the club, and if the current manager has a strong enough personality to stand up to Desmond and his cronies. I suspect not – Mowbray is a decent man but Celtic seem a couple of sizes to big for him, at least at this stage of his managerial career.

This was a pretty dreadful performance – Championship standard, to be honest – by a club that still has the right to call itself great. But for how much longer?

Anyway, Falkirk deserved their point as Celtic, for all the chances they created in looking for a winner in the second half – both goals, scored by Carl Finnigan for the visitors and then Georgios Samaras for Celtic, came in the first half – lacked any bite or composure in the final third.
