Not a game that will live long in anyone’s memory, but it’s nice to feature teams outside the Prem and the Championship for once. The stalemate result means both sides remain in the relegation zone in League One. Of the two, Tranmere look in worse trouble, some four points from safety and with a -22 goal difference – only Wycombe and Stockport, the two sides below Rovers in the table, have a worse goal difference.

Oldham have a better chance of survival – they don’t score many goals but they don’t ship too many either – and if they can win the game in hand they have on the three clubs above them in the table (Gillingham. Brighton and Leyton Orient), they would move clear of the drop zone and into mid-table; it’s very tight in the bottom half, with 13th-placed Southampton only three points above the relegation places.
