SPL Photos: Kilmarnock 1-0 Celtic – Robbie Keane Foiled On Debut

By Ollie Irish

As so often in football, the opposition failed to read the script. On this occasion, the script ended with Robbie Keane leading his new club to a stirring win. In reality, Celtic failed to match Chris Maguire’s 53rd-minute strike and so Keane suffered a defeat on debut.

Keane had several chances and looked lively, but he was foiled by Cammy Bell in the Kilmarnock goal. Tony Mowbray’s side had more than enough of the ball to win, but Killie held out for a much-needed three points.

It’s a flat start to Keane’s stint at Celtic, and there must now be serious questions about Mowbray’s position at the club. Celtic are ten points behind leaders Rangers, and they don’t really look like closing that gap in time. Mowbray is not getting the job done.
