This week’s Around the Grounds sojourn spirits us to Brisbane Road (or the Matchroom Stadium for professional purposes), just a stone’s throw across the Olympic Park from West Ham’s manor and home patch of League One high-fliers Leyton Orient since they ousted amateur side Leyton FC and moved in back in 1937.
With a capacity of 9,271, Brisbane Road is what you might call a perfectly adequate modern Football League stadium, though the slightly antiquated, wooden-gabled East Stand (the oldest stand at the ground, seen facing you in the first photo) and where the away fans are sat, does provide an awful lot of ‘obstructed views’ thanks to a surplus of stanchions and a very low-hanging roof.
Enjoy…!!!
