In the act of trying to prevent a trouble-making Zaglebie Lubin fan from clambering over a security gate at Slask Wroclaw’s Municipal Stadium in the Polish top flight at the weekend, one of the stadium police personnel on duty in the away end accidentally set the trouble-maker on fire when his pepper spray ignited on contact with the supporter’s lit flare – leading to the capture of a rather amazing, if slightly harrowing photo…

Thankfully the blast wasn’t quite as severe as the photo makes it look, as can be seen on this here video at the 1:38 mark (in the bottom left corner of the Zaglebie Lubin section)…

While we can’t find any official updates, it would appear that the fan reportedly managed to escape serious injury, at least according to Polish-based football writer Christopher Lash.

That said, we can’t imagine his eyebrows are in particularly good nick this morning.
