Only needing a draw is of course a very dangerous situation to be in, but that’s how it is for Crystal Palace. After yesterday’s draw at home to the Baggies, Palace can still be relegated on the last day of the season, but only if they lose at Hillsborough against Sheffield Wednesday next Sunday – this is a genuine six-pointer, and how fateful that the two sides should meet in this way.

Palace are two points above Wednesday in the table, so nothing but a home win would send Paul Hart’s Eagles down. The Owls are favourites to go down, but it’s now a one-off, cup final type of match, so predictions are worth little.

was at the game. atmosphere you could cut your teeth on it was that tense. should have lost by about 6 apart from speroni being an astoundingly good keeper, but ambrose’s shot cleared off the line in injury time will haunt me forever if we go down. bring on sunday
