As expected after a 6-0 win at home in the first leg, Dagenham and Redbridge booked their place in the League Two play-off final against Rotherham at Wembley, but at least Morecambe won on their final appearance at Christie Park. A fitting end to a fine season for the Shrimps.

An 81st-minute volley by midfielder Mark Duffy put the home side ahead and although D&R drew level four minutes later through Paul Benson, Dave Artell headed home the last ever goal at the stadium that Morecambe have called home since 1921. Next season they move to the Globe Arena.

Worth pointing out that the “young fan” is a Morecambe fan, celebrating with Tony Roberts. The celebrations after the final whistle were a shining example of how fans should behave, unlike some of the disgraceful scenes at Luton and elsewhere. Good luck to Dagenham & Redbridge in the final. As for Morecambe, we may have missed out on a trip to Wembley but have still had a terrific season.

Re.photo no.5 – a great picture of the banner “someone” made, wishful thinking, but we had to hang onto some belief going into the game. Love the picture of Daggers keeper Tony Roberts with a Morecambe fan on his back. I can’t tell you about his pretend limbering up moves at the start of the second half, but they had the North Stand (home end) in stitches !!!

Re.photo no.5 what a great banner someone has made there. The Morecambe fans went to the game to enjoy the occasion and with a “we still believe attitude”. Great photo of the Morecambe fans on the back of Daggers keeper Tony Roberts. His limbering up moves at the start of the second half had the home end in stiches, unfortunately I really can’t tell you why as kids maybe reading this !!!!!!!!

  4. Chris says:

The caption is wrong this is number 19 Abu Agogo not number 9 Jon Nurse. Even the Daggers fans get them both mixed up. I am glad that Abu has the hair cut he has, otherwise I could not tell them apart from a distance.

Otherwise for somebody that was not there thanks for the photo’s shame I could not get the time of work to go.
