The World Cup looms large and with it the prospect of injuries (we’ve seen that already, and not a ball has been kicked). Before our gallery of balls in the face – and it must hurt – a glance at the Daily Mirror, which comes up with the ludicrous ‘Curse of the Prem’. It’s a piece by Martin Lipton that says players who’ve toiled in the Premier League are falling injured. Ferdinand, Essien, Ballack, Mikel, Drogba, Bosingwa, Robben and Palacios are all crocked, to varying degrees. You might call it the curse of Chelsea, given that six names on the list have played for the Blues. It might be a blessing for Chelsea, given that players rested in the summer months should be stronger when the league kicks off again.
