A busy night of League Cup action yesterday, with some notable results: Shrewsbury beat Charlton 4-3, having been 3-0 down, whilst Leicester also came out on the right side of a seven-goal thriller, at home against Macclesfield.
Elsewhere, Bradford beat Nottingham Forest in extra time, Leeds tonked Lincoln 4-0, Ipswich won 3-2 at Exeter in extra time, Morecambe beat Coventry 2-0 at home, and Middlesbrough won at Chesterfield.
Championship front runners QPR lost at home to Port Vale (Neil Warnock fielded a weakened side though), Southampton beat fellow south coast club Bournemouth, and Oxford thrashed Bristol Rovers 6-1. Preston won 5-0 at abject Stockport, while Plymouth couldn’t follow up their impressive opening-day win at the Saint – Argyle lost 1-0 to Notts County at Home Park.
There were also wins for Millwall, Crystal Palace, Watford, Crewe (a fine win against Derby), MK Dons, Accrington, Colchester, Northampton, Norwich, Leyton Orient, Tranmere, Sheff Wed, Swansea, Brentford, Huddersfield, Rochdale, Peterborough and Scunthorpe.
