fair play to montenegro though- they did what they came to do.

for a bottom seeded team to be top after 4 matches… one more win and they should be able to secure second at the very least…

  2. Ollie Irish says:

agreed, they came for the draw and left with exactly that. England flat and in detention

  3. Grant says:

For God’s sake, they’re only a bottom seeded team because they didn’t exist three years ago!

The Former Yugoslavian teams play good football. Serbia and Slovenia were both at the World Cup this year. Serbia was even a sexy dark horse pick to make the semifinals or better.

Croatia finished 3rd in 1998 and was the best team in the world not to be at the World Cup, having been dealt heavy injury blows during qualifying.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was in the World Cup playoffs, being narrowly beaten by Portugal, and has some of the best young players in Europe in Pjanic, Ibisevic, and Dzeko.

Just because these teams are from countries most Brits couldn’t find on a map, or even have heard of, doesn’t mean that they’re bad at football.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have beaten them at home or anything, but the shock that they held you guys to a 0-0 draw is really condescending, and shows how little you guys actually know about world football. You’re even more insular navel-gazers than we Yanks, and that’s saying something.

  4. Samhumphreys says:

By the way, aren’t Wales in our group? because they’re 44 places (84) below Wales (40)

  5. Raybuck Luck says:

Laughed out loud on the tumbleweed.

  6. chimpo says:

Grant- its not condescending. they only have a population of 600,000 ffs!
