In photos: England 3-0 Belarus, World Cup qualifier

A professional, if rather uninspiring performance by England last night. They moved down a gear or two after achieving automatic qualification with the 5-1 thrashing of Croatia, and you can’t blame them for that, even if Fabio Capello always expects 100 per cent from his players.

There was an end-of-term, carnival atmosphere for much of the Belarus game, a vibe enhanced by the addition of David Beckham (and his awesome full beard). Becks made an attractive cameo and was voted man of the match by former Man Utd team-mate Steve Bruce – and while other England players did more to win the award, I understand Bruce’s decision.
