Photos: Portsmouth 1-2 Birmingham – Cameron Jerome Double Wreaks Revenge

By Ollie Irish

Portsmouth 1-2 Birmingham, Premier League

And after the Lord Mayor’s show… It’s typical of Pompey’s inconsistency this term that they would beat Birmingham in the FA Cup at the weekend, but then just a couple of days later, lose in the corresponding league fixture at Fratton.

Even if Pompey somehow escape the nine-point penalty for going into administration (a bigger if than Sol Campbell’s shorts), they face a massive struggle to get out of the bottom three come the end of the season. They could do it, as the likes of Burnley, Hull and Wolves will all find points hard to come by, but a result like this won’t help.

Two goals by Cameron Jerome – on the bench in my fantasy football team (doh) – won it for Big Eck’s men, with Kanu (remember him?) scoring a late consolation goal.

It’s not even about Premiership survival for us anymore, it’s about survival full stop. And that won’t happen if we’ve still got that crock Peter Jackanory, still in charge.
