Portsmouth Docked Points For Going Into Administration
By Chris Wright
Hardly surprising news, but Portsmouth FC have officially been docked nine points this morning after becoming the first ever top flight team to enter administration at the end of February.
The statement from the Premier League reads;
“Following the High Court’s decision that Portsmouth FC’s administration is valid the Premier League Board convened today to apply the League’s rules and policies in relation to a member club suffering an event of insolvency.
As a result Portsmouth FC has been deducted nine points with immediate effect.
As part of this process the board met with the administrator to agree how we will work together for the remainder of the season to ensure that the club is able fulfil its commitments.”
The deduction leaves Pompey with just 10 points from 29 Premier League games – 17 points adrift from safety with 9 games remaining – and all but resigns them to relegation to the Championship next year.

It’s a nine point penalty not a 10 point penalty so your math at the end is dodgy. They have 10 points and are 17 adrift. Just checkin up on you guys!
@Grant: (Embarrasingly simple) Maths never was my strong suit.
This is inevitable after Redknapp and Storrie went cash crazy over the last three years. 80,000 a week for utaka? Puhlease.
Apparently Bono is going to buy out the club!
