For a man who’s built an entire museum dedicated to himself, Cristiano Ronaldo seems remarkably grounded in relative terms and the Real Madrid superstar once again showed his true colours recently having been contacted by the family of a young Real fan in need of life-saving surgery.

Ronaldo was contacted by the parents of 10-month-old Erik Ortiz Cruz, who suffers with cortical dysplasia, a brain condition that causes potentially fatal seizures.

According to AS, Erik’s family asked Ronaldo if he’d mind donating a pair of signed boots to a charity auction, with the Cruz family needing to raise €60,000 so their son can undergo a protracted surgical procedure to remove part of his brain – a series of treatments that apparently cost €6,000 a whirl.

Ronaldo, however, went one better and agreed to pay for all of Erik’s treatments in one go – pledging the full €60,000 to the Cruz family out of the goodness of his heart.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Ronaldo has dipped into his own pocket to assist having paid for a nine-year-old lad’s cancer treatment back in 2012.

Good egg.

Arrgh Ronaldo, one of the reasons I check websites like this one everyday is to read something that will give me satisfaction in my pre-conceived assumption that you are a mirror-carrying, self-absorbed, pompous jerk. However, you are making it very difficult to dislike you.

Good on CR7, who seems a much better person than he sometimes appears (or is sometimes portrayed).
Seems a bit premature though, to describe a 10-month-old as a fan of Real or any club. I do wish him well with his surgeries and prognosis.

Agreed … for the longest, I was not his biggest fan. But there’s no denying Ronaldo is class …

After reading the news, Ronaldo was later on contacted by Messi’s father, asking him some tax free money for a rare condition on his small boy, who suffers of extreme puking when he’s on grass…

Aw shit. Let’s give another ballondor or whatever to make him happy

Whilst it is amazing. To put it in perspective, its the equivalent of someone who earns £20,000 a year donating about £80

This on the same day of the Bendtner Taxi Incident.

You’ve either got class, or you definitely do not.
