The rumours were true. Real Madrid have re-appointed Zinedine Zidane as their manager after relieving Santiago Solari of his duties this evening.

The Frenchman won a triplet of Champions Leagues and a La Liga title before departing on a high in the summer of 2018.

Since then Julen Lopetegui (who could forget him) and Santiago Solari have presided over a disappointing campaign that more or less petered out with defeat to Ajax in the Champions League last week.

Real have since issued a comunicado oficial to confirm that Solari is out and that Zidane is back.

The Frenchman has agreed to take over for the remainder of the season and for another three after that, up until June 2022.

Pies can only assume that he wasn’t told he won’t have Cristiano Ronaldo to rely on this time around.

I also don’t think it’s very smart of Zidane to come back, but then again I don’t know how many million € Florentino threw at him, plus likely promise of more than a few hundred millions spent on transfer market this summer.
But still happy that Mourinho didn’t go there. Not THAT civil war again…

Wishing Los Galacticos and their fans happier times all over again.

I hope they keep crashing and burning for a few more seasons. Zidane being there makes it a bit difficult for me to wish that, but I’d love to see them humbled. Not a Barca fan, just a fan who hates entitled clubs.
