“I can’t let you go around lobbing muffins at people, young man”

He may well be the top scorer in the Scottish Championship so far this season but Hibernian striker Jason Cummings still found himself left out of the squad for Saturday’s 3-0 win over Dumbarton after getting himself tangled up in a muffin-hucking scandal.

Cummings has reportedly been banned from the McDonalds branch on Gorgie Road in Edinburgh for “unacceptable” and “antisocial” behaviour after it was claimed the 19-year-old striker insulted staff and bombarded them with a barrage of muffins.

However, the youngster denies the accusations, with a source close to the player vouching that Cummings was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time when the brutal muffin attack took place.

“Jason has been left quite upset by these allegations and wants to stress that he did nothing wrong,” the source told Record Sport Online.

“He was in the wrong place at the wrong time and got caught up in something that wasn’t his doing.

“Thankfully, he has the full support of the club and his manager, Alan Stubbs and, as ever, he’s working hard to get back in the team for their game against Alloa on Saturday.

“He just wants to put this behind him and get on with scoring goals for Hibs.”

What a tangled web of lies, deception and possibly little bits of blueberry and/or chocolate chip.

Rest assured that Pies will endeavour to keep you posted with any breaking developments.
