Strathclyde Police have launched an investigation after a Royal Mail sorting office intercepted a liquid parcel bomb that was addressed to Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

In the past few weeks two other devices have also been detected, one addressed to Labour politician Trish Godman and one addressed to lawyer Paul McBride – the man who represented Lennon throughout his legal dispute with the SFA.

Both Godman and McBride are well known to be avid Celtic fans.

All three packages were initially thought to be hoaxes, but analysis has revealed that they could have worked and were ‘viably designed to kill or maim’ – though they have also been deemed ‘rudimentary’ and probably not made by anyone with any level of para-military training.

The news comes months after packages containing bullets were sent to Lennon as well as Celtic players Paddy McCourt and Niall McGinn – all three of whom hail from Northern Ireland.

The ‘mighty'(ha ha) glasgow rangers. Scotlands shame. rangers fans are Possibly the worst fans in the world.

    Absolute scum

Please don’t ever come to Manchester again.

How is it possible that in a country like the U.K. that had tons of this shit durind the Troubles, you can still send a bomb through the mail? In the U.S. if you want to send a package much bigger than a pack of gum, you have to walk into a United States Post Office, where there are 19 cameras pointed at your face and sign 10 documents and give photo ID, etc. The idea being that you can send a mail bomb if you want, but you’re going to be supplying the FBI with all the resources they need to track your ass to the moon if that’s what it takes. I just don’t get why you don’t do the same in the U.K.

“I just don’t get why you don’t do the same in the U.K.”

Maybe because the UK isn’t a fascist state like the US?

  5. Grant says:

You’re right. In the U.K. the Head of State isn’t also the head of the official state religion. Your government isn’t based on an unwritten system firmly based on the idea that the monarch won’t simply take back all of the powers that they’ve voluntarily given up through no codified legal obligation. The U.K. doesn’t have a history of completely nationalizing industries. The most viewed source of news and information isn’t the state-owned, state-funded media outlet.

The U.S. is clearly a fascist state because we’ve taken simple, common sense steps to prevent people from sending bombs through the mail with impunity. It’s us that have it all wrong.

Rangers F.C. Scotlands Shame since 1873

  7. Dusty says:

Rangers fans are scum. Anyone one who hasn’t grasped this yet is beyond help. This is disgusting and shows the bigotry that runs deep in the mindsets of Scotland’s Shame Rangers FC.

    Moral of the story:

Don’t be a proud, successful, Catholic from the north of Ireland because there are clearly hordes of small minded bigots in Rangers jerseys who will send bullets and bombs to you.

Fuck you Rangers we’re gonna win the league!

And no amount of threats, intimidation or even attempts on his life will stop the bold Neil Lennon from marching on as Celtic manager to lift the league trophy. We’re all with you Neil, fuck the huns, fuck the bigots, c’mon the CELTIC!!!

  8. Montesquieu says:

Let’s leave the politics out of this discussion. Northern Ireland is a volatile place, a hot bed of hot hot-headedness and that human inability to forgive others for the mistakes of past generations.

I’m a Catholic and I seriously have to shun my head in shame at this statement:

“We’re all with you Neil, fuck the huns, fuck the bigots, c’mon the CELTIC!!!”

You just equaled Protestants to Barbarians, and yet you have the gull to state for bigots to go off themselves? You do realize the irony in your statement right?

  9. DJ says:

Dusty, calling Rangers fans ‘huns’ then also calling them bigots? The irony is obviously lost on him as that statement is biggoted in a big way. Celtic fans seem to think they are the victims and whiter than white when they have a hardcore set of fans that will quite happily glamourise the IRA. Fucking twat.
