Italian football may not have the most squeaky-clean image, but Serie A giants Milan have shown a decent amount of generosity by agreeing to refund the season tickets of Rossoneri fans disgruntled by the sale of two the club’s biggest star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.

After the two players were sold to French moneybags, PSG, a group of Milan fans filed a lawsuit against the club, claiming that they were sold their season tickets under false pretences, with both Ibra and Thiago Silva expected to stay with the Italian giants. And hey presto, the club have now agreed to refund the fans, posting the following statement on the web:

“Milan have confirmed our readiness to dissolve agreements for season tickets for the first team’s home games for 2012-13, under conditions specified and inside a specific time period.”

“Milan firmly reiterate that this willingness is dictated by the need for class and affection of the club towards its supporters, and independent of any legal analysis. Milan believe that the (lawsuit filed) is without foundation.”

Will we see more fans do the same at clubs around Europe in the future?

I think the fans wouldn’t have had much of a chance in court, players contracts and claims of loyalty mean almost nothing nowadays. If Milan are in as much financial trouble as is reported then losing season ticket holders is only going to heap more financial pressure on them

I’m sure all them season tickets will only add up to the equivalent of one bung bunga party for Berlusconi.

I would pay double not to have to see that ponytailled prima donna play

    This better not catch on…

They’ll be asking for it back when they sign the world’s greatest player (well in his own head anyway), Nicklas Bendtner.
