Parma played host to Fiorentina in Serie A last night and, as is apparently customary at the Stadio Ennio Tardini these days, Antonio Cassano and co. were tasked with handing out small robotic vacuum cleaners to their opposition during the pre-match handshakes as part of the club’s ongoing centenary celebrations…

Anyway, the sublime hoover gesture came courtesy of Parma’s current shirt sponsors, Vorwerk, who, in a desperate bid to shift a few of their Folletto Robot VR100 models, insisted that they assist in the anniversary in the only way they know how – giving the gift of automated suction.

Unfortunately, Parma still have to go some way if they’re going to claim the title of football’s most elaborate pre-match gift-givers, with the Czech Republic and Turkey currently co-holding that particular honour…
