Remember Maicon? He was the best thing since sliced mustard a few year’s back until having his innocence forcibly taken by Gareth Bale that night in Milan – at least, that’s what Tottenham fans would have you believe.

Anyway, the Brazilian full-back – whose name I haven’t heard in months and months – scored an absolute corker during Inter’s 2-1 Coppa Italia quarter-final win over Genoa last night, pinging home an absolute beauty from 25+ yards with the outside of his foot and with only trace amounts of a ‘run-up’ to speak of…

Beauty!

The game also marked the return of Wesley Sneijder to the Inter fold after a couple of months out with a shagged-out leg muscle. He played for 80 minutes, though admittedly looked a little bit rusty at times…

any coincidence that inter has stormed back up the table with the return of Maicon? Sure he can disappear from game to game, but overall he could be more important to inter’s team than any other single player.

you gotta have calves with the strength of a bull to hit a shot like that

Beast of a player, it’s a shame he doesn’t get that much recognition here bar one or two champions league games aired on itv every season, they’ll rave about it him then he’s forgotten. I’d have Maicon over Dani Alves in my team any day.

    Maicon doesn’t score tap ins.

Notice in the last replay the Genoa defender (no.24) actually dodges out of the way of the ball… That fella would’ve prevented the goal had he just taken one for the team right in the face
