Thierry Scores Goal For NY Red Bulls Direct From A Corner, Claims He Meant It (Video)

By Alan Duffy

According to Thierry Henry, this wonder goal for the New York Red Bulls this weekend direct from a corner kick was meant. The man himself said:

“I saw he (goalkeeper Matt Lampson) was off his line and was out of the goal too much, so I decided to give it a try.'”

Hmmm. I’m not convinced. Still, wonder-goal or fluke, it did help the Red Bulls to a 3-1 win over Columbus Crew.

Alan, regardless of his intent, how would you know to the contrary? Get off your high horse and make light of the feat without the pessimism. Henry is fully capable of accomplishing the feat WITH the intent.

  2. Anonymous says:

No doubt that he meant it, the shot is nothing near to a cross or something of that kind.

  3. Karan says:

    Seems legit to me

  4. plops says:

Columbus Crew must be the shittest name for a team I’ve ever heard. Even worse than Border Security (from Sensible Soccer, I think it was in India).

I kind of miss Henry (I’m not an Arsenal fan btw).

  5. Sush says:

    looks like he meant it

  6. PatBlueIre says:

Defo meant it…so obvious where he is looking in the replay.

  7. Tim says:

“This video is not available in your country”! Argh!! It sucks being a football fan in the US.
