‘Twas the Football League Awards in London last night, with on-song Watford striker Matej Vydra being named Championship Player of the Year and Blackpool’s Tom Ince being named Young Player of the Year while Matt Ritchie and Tom Pope collecting the League One and Two Player of the Year awards respectively.

Bradford City boss Phil Parkinson was bestowed with the Outstanding Managerial Achievement award for taking the Bantams to the League Cup Final, Peter Shilton was given the “Outstanding Contribution” gong and Nottingham Forest’s Simon Cox took home Football League Goal of the Year for his sumptuous first-time control/volleyed lob against Birmingham back in September…

Which is, incidentally, probably the last time he actually scored for Forest.

Bah humbug.
