Sao Paulo are in a bit of a funk at the moment having failed to register a victory in their last seven games, tasting defeat once again in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A last night, going down 3-2 against Vitoria – though one of their consolation goals was worthy of note.
Already 2-1 down, San Paulo’s ancient goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni, now aged 40 and still functioning, squared things up before half-time with a trademark freekick from the edge of the area, thus racking up the 112th goal (according to Wiki) of his career…
There are a growing number of dissenting voices within the Sao Paulo number who believe Ceni should step aside and let a younger, more mobile man take over in nets, but then you’ve got to ask: where would their goals be coming from?
‘How about the strikers,’ you say? Don’t make us bloody laugh!
