Hamburg have struggled to get out of the blocks so far this season, but a 0-5 walloping of fellow relegation zone-flirters FC Nurnberg lifted them three points about the dotted line of doom on Sunday, with Rafael van der Vaart’s running scissor volley opener (and we’re talking “scissor kick” in the Di Canio/Poyet sense here) proving the pick of the bunch…

Yowser! Incredibly difficult to keep that type of connection from entering the ionosphere, and believe us, we speak from harrowing personal experience on that particular front.

So the old dog has still got it. I really wish the best for Bert Van Marwijk, if his HSV adventure ends up being a disappointment I don’t he will accept another coaching job and just retire.

I thought this would be the kind of article that shows some of the other goals from the game as well. You could certainly do worse than Lasogga’s third (and possibly first) and Arslan’s 50 year strike. Although I might be biased because I’m a Hamburg fan, I’m not sure.
