While Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi inhabit the most upper of upper echelons of the game, just one floor below you’ll find the great Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who now has quite the collection of magnificent goals. And against Nantes in the Coupe de la Ligue on Tuesday night, the Swedish superstar produced yet another moment of magic. Reacting quickly to Nantes goalie Rémy Riou’s weak clearance, Zlatan fired a perfectly weighted first-time lob over the head of the hapless ‘keeper to give PSG the lead.

The striker netted a brace in the game (including a last-minute winner) to see off Nantes (2-1) and book the Parisians a place in the final. Magic.

    Zlatan could take on Messi & Ronaldo with one hand behind his back and in stilettos.

    Not a savoury image, but truth.

  2. Ross says:

    Decent player but comes with a huge ego

  3. Al says:

    @ Jarren – never heard such shite, he isn’t fit to lace either of their boots, failed miserably at Barca, only really did ok with the Milan clubs in what was a very weak Serie A at the time. He then took the mercenary route and decided to coast at PSG in a terrible league, not someone I see as being able to take on the top two

  4. PetrovskyKSC says:

    In my opinion his abilities are completely different from those messi and ronaldo have. Ibrahimovic has the best touch and feeling for cheeky little wonder goals, whereas messi and ronaldo come across with a incredible consistency when it comes to scoring. regardless of what you think about them, all of them are very valuable in every squad you can imagine.

  5. Parley says:

    @ Al – Failed miserably at Barcelona? 29 league appearances 16 goals…. so better than one every two games / a total of 46 appearances 22 goals 13 assists …. Wow If only more players would fail miserably like that …

  6. foran44 says:

    @Parley

    I know it’s crazy. People believe he didn’t do anything at Barca mainly cause of how the media treated him throughout and after his time there. He also scored two goals in the Bernabeu that season to beat Madrid

  7. Al says:

    @parley @foran44 – sure he scored some goals but he was playing in a very good team so the law of averages will dictate that if he plays enough times he will score goals however he couldn’t or didn’t want to adapt to the system, he then sulked, blamed everyone but himself and threw in the towel, the greatest of all time don’t do that and you can be 100% sure he won’t be rememberd in the top 5 or 10 like Ronaldo and Messi will be. Any explanation out of either of you as to why he chose the easy PSG route?

  8. Steve-o says:

    @Al

    Still sore you have to watch those goal of the century replays where a bunch of English lads stare in awe as a real footballer celebrates his 4th goal of the game?

    don’t worry, time heals all…

  9. Ben says:

    @Al @Ross Zlatan was outscoring Messi into January before Messi went and complained to Pep, from which point forward Zlatan was played out of position and it was clear the club didn’t want him . . .

    It’s pretty obvious that neither of you have actually ever watched a game outside of England so I wouldn’t expect you to know that, I’ve been saying Zlatan deserves to be considered in the top echelon of players it the world long before it became fashionable (ie he scored that bike vs England), his technique for his size should simply not be possible.

    How is PSG ‘the easy way out’? Just because he didn’t come to play in ‘THE GREATEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD’? What are you basing your opinion of the quality of play in ligue 1 on? The man has played for Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan, and PSG, winning league titles at each, he has nothing left to prove, apart from winning the European Cup perhaps which I think PSG have an outside chance of doing. They have an excellent side under Laurent Blanc and while they have spent a considerable amount, they actually have done it more intelligently than some others clubs I can think of . . .

  10. Crisor says:

    I think the premiere league got you gaga my friend the
    French league is a lot harder then you may think
    There aren’t just 6 good teams but every yr a new squad becomes dominant unlike England where it’s a 4 race horse. Ibra, thiago, beckham all admitted
    That they were caught by surprise and the physical aspect of the league was so much harder then anticipated. Give respect where respect is due!!!

  11. Al says:

    @ all the very sensitive johnny foreigners above – why is it that if someone criticises a European league all of you immediately get on your “premier league is not the best league in the world high horses” and assume that the person doing the criticising is English(I’m not) and only watches the Premier league? It’s laughable, at least 3 comments English bashing with nothing to do with the actual discussion, don’t let your jingoism influence a football debate.
    I watch plenty of European football and the fact is the French league is poor and always has been, backed up by a lack of any consistent success in Europe. the Italian league (which I used to love) is full of corruption and possibly performance enhancing drugs so there really are only 3 top leagues, England, Spain and Germany.

    Alright you lot, take a deep breath and calm down. You’re arguing with strangers on the internet about footballers.
