At no point did it ever look truly under control, but Gareth Bale settled the Copa Del Rey Final in Real Madrid’s favour last night by yomping past Marc Bartra on the outside from inside his own half, eventually making his way into the Barcelona area and poking a magnificent solo finish past Jose Pinto…

Spectacular, if in a physical sense rather that a technical one – i.e, that Bale was still capable of that kind of full-tilt, 70-yard sprint in the 85th minute of a game. The guy’s a specimen.

Anyway, the Copa marks Bale’s first silverware as a Real player with plenty more to come, you’d suspect.

As for Barca, the defeat marks the first time they’ve lost three consecutive matches since January of 2003. Not good.
