A strong contender for the next Puskas Award was filed over in the Dublin District Schoolboys League at the weekend, when 7-year-old Sean McDonnell both started and ended a slick team move for his Crumlin United youth side.
McDonnell pinched the ball away from his opponent with a silky turn, combined (a little reluctantly at first!) with teammate Sam Cowzer to engineer himself a bit of space and then applied a devastating volleyed finish from long range…
Take a bow Sean McDonnell. This 7 year old boy scored of the best goals you are likely to see all year. pic.twitter.com/cX8Gfra0nU

What a beauty!
According to the Crumlin United Facebook page, this type of creative and skilful play is encouraged by the DDSL, who have no league table or points on offer for games in order to allow the kids to express themselves without fear of losing games at an age where it doesn’t matter.
On this evidence, it certainly looks like it’s working a treat.
